Q&A with Tracy:

1. How do you leverage your experiences to advocate for parents co-parenting children with special needs as a PESC ambassador?

"My personal experience of co-parenting a child with special needs has been

both enlightening and transformative. It has profoundly influenced my

comprehension of the distinctive challenges and joys that this role entails. One of the fundamental insights I've gained is the significance of patience,

adaptability, and transparent communication among co-parents and the entire support network involved in my child's care. Understanding that every child's journey is unique and progresses at their own pace has allowed me to

appreciate the joys that come with every small milestone, no matter how

incremental.

As an ambassador for PESC, I see my personal experiences as a bridge to

connect with and advocate for parents who are co-parenting children with

special needs. By sharing my own journey and the challenges I've faced, I aim

to build empathy and create a sense of solidarity among the parents. I believe

that my experiences will enable me to better understand their needs, concerns,

and aspirations, empowering me to effectively convey their perspectives to

stakeholders and decision-makers."

2. Which strategies or resources have been instrumental in your co-parenting journey, and how can they benefit PESC families?

"Throughout my co-parenting journey, I've discovered several strategies and

resources that have proven to be invaluable. One crucial aspect has been

establishing a robust support network comprising family, friends, and

professionals who understand the unique needs of my child. Equally important

has been the recognition of the value of self-care and seeking therapy or

counseling when needed. These steps have not only enriched my knowledge

but also provided me with a substantial source of emotional support. These

strategies and resources have the potential to greatly benefit the families that PESC serves, aiding them in navigating their unique challenges and rejoicing in the successes of their co-parenting journeys."
