Our Mission

PESC is a dedicated non-profit that offers support and education to parents who are co-parenting children with special needs and learning differences.

Our vision is to put the needs of children and their families first by offering educational courses and resources to parents, providers, and professionals so that families are empowered and get the wrap-around support needed to thrive.

The impact is access to a tool for support for families that is affordable and accessible for all learners.

Parenting is not an easy job. Is it rewarding? Yes. Are there some days when you’re not quite sure if you’re handling it the right way? Yes.

The most important thing is that you want the best for your child no matter what.

You want to teach her the skills necessary to survive in life so that she doesn’t have to struggle with the basic necessities. You want her to find a point of independence and confidence that she will succeed once she leaves the nest.

You want her to one day be ready and capable of leaving the nest in pursuit of her dreams.

Whatever the circumstances or struggles, our role as parents of children with specific needs is to build the foundation that will carry our children throughout their lifetime. It’s not easy being a parent and we all have our different struggles; but now that you are a parent, you are in the most important job of your life.

Let’s join together and help each other along the way. We don’t have to do this alone. Some of us have gone through experiences that others are just starting. Ask for help. Look for guidance. Seek resources. That’s what we want to help provide by passing the Florida SB1532 amendment on education for parents who are co-parenting children with special needs. We can keep learning and helping to build a stronger foundation for our children.

For Parents

Do your kids often ask you “Why do I have to go to school?” What do you answer? Probably something around the lines of “so you get smarter, can go to college, have a career, and live a nice life.” As parents we really do want our kids just to be able to “have a nice life.” But what if we thought of learning just a little bit different?

What if we took ongoing learning and education as a way to always improve ourselves, grow into more knowledgeable, wiser, compassionate, and empathetic people? What if we faced reality that the world is ever changing and there is no “one way” of living “a nice life.”

The only real way is taking into account the whole child, the whole person, and what life means to each one of us. What life means to all of us. Once we view the world and ongoing education in that way, opportunities open up, opportunities that we may not have had without support and education. We can then help each other - because education brings the world together in compassion and understanding.
